Applicators

Taking care of your skin also includes taking care of your make up brushes(tools)and anything else that will touch your skin, such as wedges, sponges, mascara wands, eye shadow brush, etc. Why is that important? Because germs live inside applicators if you do not sanitize properly.
As a professional makeup artist, I am constantly sanitizing in between clients, but it doesn't stop there. I sanitize my own applicators as well. Witch hazel is not only a great toner, but it also cleans applicator brushes. You can add some witch hazel to a paper towel and brush your applicator on it back and forth and then lay it on a dry paper towel. Make sure that you properly put the bristles back in place, which should be pressed downward so it doesn't lose its shape. Once a week you should clean all your applicators with  a gentle cleansing antibacterial soap or professional brush cleaner agent.  Sponges should be cleaned after each use. Throw away when they get worn. Using harsh detergents will cause the bristles to fall off on brushes. After cleaning them make sure you rinse with water and gently squeeze excess water out, shape brushes and lay on a dry paper towel to dry over night or you can blow dry on low or cool setting.
You should use disposable mascara wands and throw away after each use. No double dipping. Replace your mascara every 2 months. Doing this will help keep bacteria away.

Having healthy clean skin also means anything that touches it has to be just as clean!
